BAT – Best Available Technology
Technical processes that are particularly environmentally friendly and resource-efficient according to the current state of the art. Serves as a basis for recommendations in industrial wastewater treatment.
BAT (Best Available Techniques) describes the state of the art for environmentally friendly production and treatment processes as defined by the EU. In the field of BAT wastewater, this includes all processes that enable particularly efficient, resource-saving, and environmentally friendly wastewater treatment for industry.
The BREF documents serve as a reference for determining BAT, specifying which processes are considered particularly effective and economical for specific industries.
In the wastewater sector, these include, for example, evaporators, ultrafiltration plants, and coalescence separators, which can help to implement the recommendations of the BAT Wastewater Directive for Industry.
