Zero Liquid Discharge

Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) refers to a process in industrial water and wastewater treatment in which no liquid wastewater is discharged. The aim is to recycle almost all of the water used and to dispose of only minimal residuals in concentrated or solid form.

In ZLD systems, wastewater is treated in several stages, typically through evaporation and post-concentration. This produces a distillate that can be reused, as well as a highly concentrated residue or solid.

ZLD helps to reduce fresh water consumption, lower disposal costs and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. It is regarded as a key technology for sustainable and resource-efficient industrial processes.
